What is wrong with top posting?
since I plan to purchase a minimac for me while my
wife uses the laptop macbook pro.
Unless your are both using the software at the same time, there would
be no practical reason nor ethical requirement for you to purchase two
copies. It is like you both sharing other intellectual property, like
a single CD or book, but with more flexible media.
Would this solve the problem while at the same time allowing me to purchase
a single apple program that could be installed on two different computers?
FileMaker and Apple are two different companies. It will be easier to
respond your questions if you take a little care to differentiate
between Macs, OS X, software sold by Apple, and software developed by
others that runs under OS X. Over the course of 24 hours, you have
referred to all of the above as quote Apple unquote.
FileMaker did not incorporate DRM the last time I purchased their
software. Generally, developers of OS X compatible software do not
treat their paying customers as probable criminals and therefore there
is less copy protection. Not all companies who sell software for Macs
are so enlightened. If this is important to you, you will need to
check for each potential products.
