This is true. To elaborate further, my solution is, if I might say so myself - clever - but arguably inelegant (though not any kind of dangerous hack)...and not, as David suggests, well-suited/recommended for broader use. Because C-Speech has very narrow purpose I could get away with it. David is stuck with dealing with the previously- discussed VoiceOver limitation in a more orthodox fashion i.e. filing a bug report with Apple and encouraging them to fix the problem.
