VoiceOver in the wild... hmmm

I just wanted to throw out there that Safari seems to behave differently on different sites. Sometimes differently on the same sight. When reviewing Alastair's site I got a couple different results. Changing the options in navigation for the VO utility will drastically alter the behavior. Seemed like vertical linear reading occured with the grouping option off, but it was horizontal - vertical with grouping on. Some of this is a result of visual formatting going the direction of vertical - horizontal in order. As an example of what I'm talking about. Japanese is read top to bottom, then right to left. I would call this vertical - horizontal formatting. In English we read and write left to right, then top to bottom. I would call this horizontal - vertical formatting. It would make sense to try to identify a format that is better for the blind and low vision user. Does WC3 have a recommendation? Or Bobby? I don't think it is the responsibility of the application to present all web pages in a universal way, since that would obligate them to review all web pages out there (an impossible task) and change accordingly. I think the best way to go is to seek a preferred method and then the user will decide with their feet, or letters to adjust accordingly.

Lord knows I just checked my non-profit site: and was a little shamed by the lack of tags. www.ottumwateencenter.org And www.drudgeReport.com works really well vertically with grouping on... I can't make sense of it...
