I don't think there have been any significant advances either. My understanding is that real "steps forward" normally come with actual upgrades to the OS, but I also would have felt a bit more comfortable seeing a bit more tangible "progress". As for the future, coming from years of experience with Windows, yes, I too am always a bit frightened as to what we will see next. All indications are that VO will improve, but my concerns, personally, are with the applications in question. I expect to see them all eventually become accessible, but the time frame is always a rather iffy deal.
