I've come to the conclusion that it's probably the drivers I can't install from the cd without an accessible installer. I can find ways to install most of the apps as most of them have installers in their directories, but I see no way to install the drivers except through the totally nonfunctional-for-vo-users "setup". apparently greg's installer does indeed install the drivers, but for whatever reason his installer doesn't work correctly since it didn't work for me either on a computer where an install had been attempted and on another where no install had before been attempted, and it didn't work for Dan with a just-out-of-the-box scanner. So, until there's a working accessible installer or until I somehow obtain both a monitor that works with the mac mini and sighted help, it appears I just have to give up on the whole project. I don't give up easily but I'm at a dead end here. so, if you are thinking of buying one of these, unless you have a display and sighted help, I'd advise you to wait.
