Well actually I believe there is a way, but I didn't find it as nice as using VLC, Itunes, or some similar mp3 player. Of course I can't recall immediately what you do, but I think you just play the files by going to the recording bin.

No, Audio Hijack is not an editor. It'll let you do the recording and then you could use Fission for example to do some editing such as removing audio content etc. To do more fancy stuff, you might need to usesomething like Sound Studio.
