Your Mac may or may not have a modem depending on how it was ordered.
But the Mac Mini's modem is a separate USB device not a built in one.
the opening you have is a built in ethernet port.
So let's assume you have a fax modem. You would need to have a phone
line to connect to this modem. It might be possible to connect it to a
cell phone but I've never done that. A third option I have heard of is
faxing through a cell phone via bluetooth. You would, of course have
to have a bluetooth enabled phone with fax capacity, this sounds
expensive.
Once you have this you can then send documents you created on your Mac
by selecting the Fax Modem from the list of printers and entering the
phone number. To fax paper documents you will need to scan them. For
sending you don't need to worry about OCR however as all fazes are
sent as TIFF images anyway. You are sending just a picture of the
document not the data that OCR generates.

intel mac mini; at least I see the connector, but does this mean it
has to be connected to a phone line or something? I don't have a
landline phone and of course i'm using wireless ethernet not ppp. So
how does this work?
2. If this is a hardcopy document, do you mean that I have to use a
scanner to scan it first/ Because if so, I'm going to have to worry
about how accurate the ocr was.
