when i used to use windows xp the i pod would show up in disk mode
immediately as an extra drive. maybe i should install windows xp on
my mac book which i am doing for other purposes and use it that way
for now. loving my mac book, i ahve the intel core 2 duo version,

to to do so via Itunes in preferences. If this is a Nano or Video
Ipod, if memory serves me you hold down the top half of the
navigation circle and when the Apple logo appears, you immediately
press the lower half of the navigation circle. This will put it in
disc mode. If a Shuffle or regular Ipod, you should be able to set
this via Itunes and specify how much of the disk is for mass
storage or music.
