You can do ping from the command line of the Mac or use the Network Utility in the Application>Utilities directory to do these kind of checks. Network Utility is fully VoiceOver compatible.

All,

I'm sure this is a basic question but I'm wondering if someone can give me a pointer to how I check network connectivity on a Mac. I want to do the equivalent of going to a command prompt for example and running commands like ipconfig and ping in Windows. I want to see if my machine has an IP address and such because I'm told I'm not connected to a network but the connection itself is working when I plug it into another machine. It used
to work on the Mac so I'm trying to do a bit of troubleshooting.

Thanks,

Kelly
