Hello all.

for clarification, the newest xpi bundle is version 2.8 whereas the old one was 2.5. If you want to upgrade, download the new xpi bundle from
http://www.firevox.clcworld.net/downloads.html

The link you want has the words "bundle pack 2.8" in it. remember that you must use the menu (ctrl-numpad5 with mouse keys enabled) so you get an xpi file and not a txt file. also clear out any old xpi bundles in the directory to which you are downloading first.

then, do not try to install the xpi bundle from terminal; if you do, you will end up in the import wizard and we can't navigate that with speech as far as I know. Instead, open firefox; go to files > open file. Make sure the xpi file is located in the directory which you have the popup menu selecting. type xpi in the search field and hit enter. this should give you only the correct xpi file in the outline; interact with the outline to select that xpi bundle; then click open. you may hear voiceover say 'addons" or you may hear something from firevox since you already have it installed and are just upgrading. at any rate, just hit enter and the new bundle should be installed.

I suspect the reason David's had to change to freetts to get firevox to talk was that he originally installed the firevox suite without having installed freetts; therefore the default setting was for sapi. You shouldn't have to do this as long as you make sure you have freetts installed before the firevox suite (xpi bundle) itself.
