Sure, the machine comes with 512Mb and you can easily add a 1Gb stick,
that's what I did so I have 1.5Gb ram on the box.

If you call the vents underneath speakers, then yes. I imagine sound
does come from there, but I think of them more as inlets for air, but
yes, those screws are on a vented plate which is about the length of a
stick of ram, what, 4 or 5 inches. Has two flush philips screws at
either end and they are small.
