I have Apple mail fetch all of my gmail acounts, plus currently two
ISP mail addresses automatically. Set up various rules to have
certain types of mail go into different boxes automatically as well,
usually list mail based uppon the address where the list is.
As for stuff like hotmail or yahoomail etc, don't have Mail pick
those up. Don't think they support Apple Mail.
In fact all Mac Visionaries mail automatically goes into one box by
itself, even though some other lists are using the same e-mail
address, but those go into the main "inbox" at this time.
Kind of coumbersom I admit, but being on nearly 30 lists, I wanted to
keep the bulk of trafic from the "inbox" then if there were personal
messages, or messages pertaining to groups I own or moderate, those
would be priority in the "inbox."
Not sure if this realy addresses your question fully, but it is
doable at least with gmail at least.
