Hi Greg and all,
it is not necessary in thee beginning to supportt all displays.
Also, some of the newer displays will actually fully emmulate others
so if their native mode is not supported, it's a simple configuration
change on board the display. I think the biggest chalenge is fitting
the output into the environment bbut then I'm not a developper or
software designer.

I have a bit of experience in trying to get braille displays to work
under the MacOS and I can tell you that it is a much harder nut to
crack than any of you realize.
Here are the problems. There are literally dozens of kinds of braille
displays, note takers and so on. Each one sells only a few hundred
units in any given year. Each and every one communicates with the
computer in its own way. The makers of these devices have never
standardized on a communication method for them. This means that you
are forced to write special code for each one and if the maker
changes anything you start all over again. To make matters worse
these devices are so expensive that people who own them are reluctant
to ever get a new one once they have one meaning that there has to be
support for lots and lots of legacy equipment that is out there. Some
of these talk USB, some Bluetooth, some serial all have to be supported.
The whole thing is a very complex and time consuming programing task.

Why wouldn't software companies answer those kinds of questions as
soon as possible? It would sure give me more confidence in the
software company.

Apple isn't under any obligation to release information to the public

why, Will, we also do not answer e-mails asking similar questions
about
our products at Draconis. We'll all just have to be patient.
