With Window-Eyes, I find RDP between XP and Vista or Vista and XP
{ very fast using a reasonable Internet connection. I am told,
although I cannot verify it, that there are a lot of issues with JFW
and RDP. Breaking this down into tasks is something I currently
cannot do. I have a Mac Mini which I use as a dedicated host for my
FTP services. Ordinarily I don't keep a keyboard connected to this
machine, and it would be nice to simply be able to administrate it
remotely. The server software itself is not a problem, since it has
in-built remote admin functionality. But the machine in general,
it'd have been nice.

well, you can have even more access under terminal but it ttakes a
bbit of doing. the issues are though that Mac is quite different in
this space than windows in that Macs have different and more severe
securrity constraints. I've actually never liked the ms rdp
implementation because I found it slow and cumbersom to use. So,
breeak this down into tasks. What do you want to do?

As I said, I would like to be able to do what I can do with RDP under
Windows. In other words, use the machine remotely. Run programmes
remotely. That is why I was hoping perhaps there was an accessible
version of Apple Remote Desktop. I planb to exchange my old Windows
laptop for a MacBook Pro in the coming months, and it would have been
nice to had access to the resources of my desktop machines remotely.
I guess I've just become used to having this kind of access from my
laptop under Windows.
