screensaver won't turn off?

        hi all

i set the screen saver to off, or so i think i did, and it won't go  
off, lol
or do i have to set it to no screensaver or something. when i put the  
lisder up allt he way to theoretically not turn on screensaver it  
does, regardless of what i do. i am using a macbook core 2 duo  
notebook with 10.4.9 1.83 core 2 duo
