Well put. I am currently having to approve some other people on another list I help moderate now. It just is. They violated standing rules which they signed, they are moderated. So far they are behaving. Yeah it's a little bit of a bother at times, but until list guidelines are learned guess they will be there a while.

I am a little uncertain as to why the issue you bring up above is even an issue. On most lists, this is a very simple matter. You simply set the obnoxious member's status to 'moderated'. Then every message they send has to be approved before it goes through.

Several people have offered to serve as "mentors". I don't actually think that will work. But what would work is setting them up as moderators so they could approve or reject Gabe's messages. On most list servers, you can have several moderators for each list.That way, the burden of approving Gabe's messages wouldn't fall too heavily on any one person.

But maybe this list is hosted on a server that doesn't allow those options.
