Welcome Hannah and good luck! My best advise is that you try and forget what you know about Windows and try to remember experiences and strategies from when you were first learning about computers. That is hard to do, but if you deliberately keep in mind that your prejudices about how things should work are largely merely what you have gotten used to, you will have a better time of it. The good news is that switchers from Mac OS 9 are disoriented at first too. The even better news is that you will really like OS X in the end.
