Yeah, I've done that, but that's only for choosing the file you want
to run, for example, when selecting AppleScript as the action. The
problem is once you've done that, and it'stime to set up the actual
key command. I don't see how that's done at all...so anyone who has
done it, and can explain, I'm interested in hearing how it is done.

Well, I finally got around to downloading this, and I'm sorry to
say I haven't had much luck with it at all. The program is pretty
accessible, until it comes to the point where you are suppose to
actually assign a hot key. There appears to be a field where you
can do this, but no way to get it to access any sort of typed
command, and no other way to input what you want as far as I can
tell.
I'm very much inclined to stick with OS/X's built in short cut
features, even with no global shortcuts available for
AppleScript. Most of the time, the scripts will be application
specific, and it won't matter anyway.

Someone mentioned spark as a way to get a hot key in all
applications.
Here is a download page, its free, with comments on what it does:

In addition to hot keys it mentions starting apple scripts and
input into
etunes. Lets get vo working in many more applications by such
devices and
scripting.
