As a disclaimer, Patrick, I haven't had the time to test Colloquy with Voiceover yet. Just going from what I know about other users and devs trying it out, it's not entirely nice although this may depend on how you have Colloquy set up. And the guy who filed that bug made a ruckus about it in the channel.
Colloquy is based on WebKit - same thing as Safari - and so if you have a lot of windows open, Colloquy can use up a lot of resources because every open panel is like a mini webpage being constantly updated. This is particularly awful when you're in a very busy channel with hundreds if not thousands of users. There are a lot more clients than just Colloquy and X-Chat Aqua though, there's also Conversation, Snak, Crikey, MacIrssi, Linkinus, Xirc and terminal-based ones like irssi. Some aren't free, others are awful in terms of support. That being said, my Mac IRC client of choice is Colloquy, and I'm a rather avid IRC user, used to be a netadmin for a couple networks..fun. good morning Yvonne and all: thank you all for the replies. I am a little confused about something. some of the responses to this thread seem to indicate that colliquy does not work well with voiceover and others seem to indicate that it does. I have done a little more research on the project which sparked my question and colliquy seems to be the client of choice for them. Yvonne or anyone else. did you switch clients for preference reasons (just wanted to) or was colliquy not functioning well enough to be usable. Thank you again for all the feedback. Take good care and I wish you enough.
