Can you explain why using Windows and Outlook Express contribute to spam's existance?
The number one use of compromised Windows machines (zombies) is as spam relays. I am not conversant with the distributing address book exploit, but the documented vulnerabilities associated with Outlook Express (as in how attached executeables could be launched without user consent) was the direct cause of many of these same machines being compromised in the first place! I understand that patches for most of these holes are available, but the damage has been done, and there are plenty of Windows users who are not diligent with their patching. The field remains fertile for spam and will for the foreseeable future. Thank you Windows and Outlook Express!
