Hello,
Years ago, Apple was directly active in getting computers in to schools. I don't see why that same thing cant be attempted but hilighting VoiceOver and the other Accessibility componants in OS X 4 and newer OSes to come.

There's only one item your a little incorrect on. That simply isn't just that Apple would be helping us, in fact they'd be helping themselves. So, I agree with you, but Apple stands to benefit and they really should step out and help period.

This also does come back to a previously discussed point as well. Apple needs to reach out to the agencies as well and provide a means of marketing. The accessibility evangelist position Greg suggested or the like, Apple can be of great help to the rest of us trying to do it in our "small corners" of the world.

This is precisely the argument I used to encourage and urge the Alaska Center for the Blind and Visually-impaired to consider. It is my hope, since I'm no longer there, that they will carefully consider the ever-increasing requests from future college students, wanting that training. And, it is my hope that they will hire someone who is knowledgeable in VoiceOver usage, so that they can meet the needs of all blind students who go through that program. and oddly enough, one of our counselors agrees with me.
