James, as they always say, don't believe in what the papers say! I might not
use a mac, but I can sure tell you that what you heard sounds like fiction
to me, because, if you think about it, why would shutting it down and/or
restarting it damage computers? The features are designed to clear the RAM
that was filled up in your computing session, and nothing else. Hope that

Hi folks,
Just to clear up something I was adviced and have read elseware. Is it
true that it is best not to shutdown your mac? I have been told that it's
best to put it to sleep rather than shutting it down. Is this fact or
fiction? It's said that if you restart it a lot, you could possibly
damage it! Is this true or just rumours?
