What is the most human sounding voice that is available for the Mac? Also are these voices $79 for one voice or a suite of voices? ----- Original Message ----- From: "David Niemeijer" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "General discussions on all topics relating to the use of Mac OS X by theblind" <[email protected]>

Hi David and list. I bought these voices and they are great. The new
Peter voice is very good for us brits. 2 questions for you though
David: 1. Will Infovox work on Leopard?

It will work unless Apple breaks something at the last minute. we have worked closely with the Speech and VoiceOver teams at Apple to ensure compatibility.

2. since these voices are
fixed pitch, is there any way to have Voiceover indicate capital
letters other than by raising the pitch, since the voices don't
respond to pitch change?

Not today, but in the near future some good thins will be happening (I can't say more).

P.S. I still ended up having to pay 99 UK pounds for Infovox UK
english. Didn't seem to get the discounted price of 99 USD mentioned
in your email!

It said 99 USD/EURO, which depends on where you live. In The US and Canada the price is in dollars, elsewhere in euros. this has to do with licensing issues. So you paid 99 euros + VAT. I just checked your order and the total you paid was 79.07 pounds including VAT, not 99 UK pounds as you state above.

Cheers,

david,
