Well that really isn't good enough, another reason why I'm damn glad I own both Fission and Sound Studio <smile>.

Hi Dane,

Your right it doesn't let you mess with the encoding optons, all you can seem to do is set the bitrate. If you are working with mono files, however, the thing does actually take that into account and allow you to create mono mp3s.

And that brings me to one of the few dislikes I have with Sound Studio, it doesn't allow you fill control over the MP3 decoder as Fission does and that's a damn pity. Fission in some ways still has allot going for it including the ability to work with Cue sheets, I sincerely hope that development is kept up on this. As I said, I'm playing with Audasity and I now have some documentation to work from however this software seems for the moment to have a few acessability problems. Once again, some other blind users who use Windows and JAWS have "Rallied to the cause" and beta 1.35 for Windows has fixed or is working on many accessability problems so I'm sure that if the Audasity community can work with those people who were vallient enough to put their best foot forward to make Audasity usable then they can do exactly the same with the forthcoming Mac versions if they get the feedback required <smile>.

I think it does 8 tracks but I could be thinking of another app. Never even messed with the tracking aspect, that's why I said it is similar to forge for me at the minute. All I am using it for is chopping up radio playhs and saving to an mp3 at the end of the editting work.

Yes, Sound Studio is a multi track editor but I cannot tell you how many tracks it has, that's something I'd have to find out about in the manual.

Hi Dane,

Yes, SS 3 is the new sound forge for us bind folks it has to be said.
One less thing to boot into windows via VM for.

One quicky though on file associations, how can I give Itunes the mp3 format back? SS3 has taken it, similar to how Real player and media player did for windows. Is there a way of reclaiming it apart from selecting open with all
the time?

I'm still hunting up allot of information on it regarding commands
etc. This editor is also a multi track editor however I think I'd
stick with Sound Studio for the time being quite frankly, just doing
some stuff with it now.

How have you found audasity, doesit work really well?
I've heard about this program, not familiar with it's functionality
though.

Yes, Sound Studio is quite accessible but I've not tried multi track
editing with it though I know the facilities for multi track editing
are certainly available, how you'd synchronise tracks though, that is
the question.
Another alternative I'm playing with right now is Audasity, this is a
free open source editor and its available across platforms including
Mac OS10, Windows, LINUX etc.

Hey guys,
Forgive me if this is the wrong place for it. One of the things I
want to do when I get my mac is to do multi track editing, and lots of
it!
I need some input on sound studio. I hear this is a completely
accessible multitrack editer, and by multitrack, I guess it's far
superior to sound forge that uses a grand total of 2 tracks.
Any feedback on it, and is there a list that focuses more on digital
editing with a mac?

Thanks,
Jed
