I want to turn mines off and I see what I think is settings like 1 hr, 2hr
and never. I do not know how to choose never. It is a control that I haven't
encountered before.

Screen saver does not need to require a password, go to systems pref and
screen saver and turn off password requirement. And as long as you are
using the computer the screen saver will not come on anyway. You set the
