Yes, control+f5 in the finder switches you back and forth from the browser
to the toolbar.

OK, I'll try that, the control option left and right arrows work, it's
just up and down that is acting funky.
What's that other command, control f5 or something?

OOPS, yes. Thanx for the correction. control+option+leftArrow and
control+option+rightArrow will move you around the window, object by
control+option+object.
In the finder, the actual browser is announced as "scroll area" when
walking
the window this way. When you hear that, interact with it via
control+option+shift+downArrow and then use command+2 or command+3 to
control+option+shift+set
the view to list or column view, respectively.

Don't you mean control and option?

Ya, either the view is not set to column or list, or more likely your
not focused on the browser and are instead in the toolbar or sidebar.
You can investigate the window with the VoiceOver navigation keys
vo+left and vo+right, where vo means hold shift+option, and left and
right are leftArrow and rightArrow, respective.y.

I'll have to try that, the issue is when you go in to finder, and hit up
and down arrow it says nothing. I would take it that one of these
oddball views got tuend on? Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jed

There are three "modes" of display in finder: icon, list (or outline),
and column. You can select them with command+1, command+2, and command+3
respectively. Icon mode is perhaps the least friendly to VoiceOver
users, but it does offer the advantage that you can sort by attributes
other than name (from the view menu). I like the column mode.
Also, sometime you will be bounced out of the actual browser and onto a
toolbar somehow. Try control+f5 to get back to the browser (you might
have to hit this a couple of times); it should say "column view browser"
or something to that effect, depending on what mode you've set (see
above).

Subject: Problem with finder
Hey guys, got a problem with finder.
When I am on the finder, I'm pressing up and down arrow keys and it says
nothing. Any ideas on how to fix this? It was working fine, and I must
have changed something. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jed
