Mail Filtering

Listers I want to filter my mail to the point that when a message  
comes in it goes to a certain mailbox. I set up a smart mailbox and  
it mirrors the messages that meets the criteria that I defined, but I  
basically have two copies. One in the Inbox and the other in the  
smart mailbox. I know if I delete messages from one the other updates  
the change, but I want the message to go to the mailbox without two  
copies and without me having to do anything. Your help is greatly  
appreciated.
