The 26/October date was only ever a speculation by the media. There's nothing official about it, and it is based solely on the fact that Apple usually, though not even close to always, releases new products at the end of the month, often on a Friday. Tiger was released that way, and so was the iPhone, but iLife '08 and the new iMacs were not, and neither were the new iPods. It is nothing more than speculation at this point. Leopard could be released tomorrow, or it might not come until November. My guess is that it'll still be in October, since Apple hasn't said otherwise. I think the 26th is a good guess, but hardly a definitive prediction.
