Apple's not the only one who uses this term, it's fairly common. Other companies might refer to it as some other name, like Microsoft with RTM (release to manufacturing), but all the terms are rather interchangeable. That being said, Apple would announce the official retail date of Leopard in advance as they have previously. There's still time for the release to be this month.
