I have VoiceOver set for "Some Punctuation." However, the voices in InfoVox still reads the dashes and other symbols. Is there a way, short of using the dictionary, to assist the InfoVox voices to recognize the settings as the are in the Apple voices? Hope that makes sense. Richie Gardenhire, Anchorage, Alaska.

The Infovox iVox voices speak what VoiceOver send to them, so if "Some punctuation" means that dashes should not be read (and I do not know what the definition is of it), then VoiceOver should not be sending them over to the voice. Voices convert text to speech and are not informed about specific setting in VoiceOver, they just speak whatever is fed to them. Voices may have different native behavior about how punctuation is handled and sometimes Apple may assume all voices behave like theirs and then send over text without stripping the stuff that should not be spoken. I'd like to get some examples from you (please email them to be off-list) so that i can maybe file a bug with Apple. Also I need to know what the supposed definition is off "some punctuation". Does anyone here know?

david.
