Well, good luck. In most cases you won't be able to choose what service other people choose to sign up with. If you want to talk to all of them you can install a client for each messenger service or use Ichat and combine services.

I'm not VaShaun, but I only want one chat account, not half a dozen.

Why don't you just create an AIM account and sign into that using Ichat? Sign into your Jabber account using your gmail address and password in Ichat. Ichat can be a Jabber client. The thing you won't be able to do if you do things this way is have an audio or video chat with your jabber contacts because your aren't using the googletalk software. If you are talking to an AIM contact, however, you can have a vedio conversation. At least I can on my Imac.

You both need to be on the same messaging service, i.e. AIM or GoogleTalk. IChat serves as just the conduet.

With using I Chat do I need to use the same chat provider as the person I want to chat with? For example if one person is using AIM and I use GMail can we still talk because we both are on I Chat or do I have to use AIM with him?
