you have to setup a google talk account and pick a user name. You can
get client software or use the googletalk gadget.

have to use 1 chat client for Jabber and AIM. If you already have a

Just create a Jabber account in Ichat. If you already have an AIM
account, go into the Ichat preferences and create an AIM account
using your screen name and password. If you don't have an existing
AIM account then it is easy enough to create one, but like you say,
you would need help to get around that picture thing.
