first of all, do you mean: (1) it reboots; (2) it does something that tells you the whole system has crashed--if so, what?; (3) it quits talking to you and you don't know what has happened. Sometimes reinstalls are indeed necessary and sometimes calling Apple Care is the best course of action, but sometimes looking into the details of what is happening can save you both of those actions.
