Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Is there a way to tell VoiceOver not to read text after I hit the
return key? Or enter or whatever it is. I am mucking with a client
called Nuntius, and to do that successfully Ihave to turn VoiceOver
off after turning Speech on for the client. But I would like to be
able to leave it on, provided it doesn't read back the text I put into
the input window.
