I believe that I read somewhere that if you put an app in the doc, you could 
create a shortcut key for it.

What would be real nice is if they offered shortcut commands for things
other than menu items.  For instance, there are many times when a program
does not have appropriate keyboard command sfor moving focus to a certain
part of the UI (like focus on document area or focus to contacts panel etc).

Has anyone tried AppleScript yet on Lepoard? I played with it a bit on
Tiger, but the dictionary dialog in the script editor application which
allows you to see what objects are exposed by an application (so you can
apply script to them) was not very accessible.  In any case, moving focus
etc might be more easily done via Applescript, which means you could add
keyboard commands to do useful things etc.

Just my two cents.
