Hi,
I don't know why either. But I do agree with you that the real purpose
is to backup all the important stuff. And it really saved me loads of
time puting all the stuff back on the machine.
. Just before I answered the final restore button, there was check
list of items to be restored. The problem is that this list is really
long, because it includes all the items to be restored. This might be
where the restoringof settings could have been corrected
I think I'm going to try this again and this time see how to check or
uncheck the items. I just might have to be willing to give it a longer
time to complete displaying the items. Then, I might be able to locate
the check boxes for specific items.
As far as your PPC slowing way down, I don't know what to say. The
machine I did this on is a Mac mini PPC with 1 GB RAM.

I think the real strength of Time Machine is supposed to be in
recovering files, though it also certainly can do a full restore.
Once superduper is fully compatible with Leopard, and once I don't
need tiger for anything, I'll probably continue to use superduper.
Admitedly I've only once tried to recover an individual file using
Time Machine but I have not figured that process out yet. In fact,
after my original installation I again re-installed and I am not yet
even running Time Machine because on the first install on my ppc Mac
Mini with 1 gigabyte ram it tied things up so I couldn't function
well at all until it finished. However, I probably will try using it
again at some point. It's really good to know about the settings
problem; I'm wondering why it unchecked those.
