There is a text based Jabber client which I use under FreeBSD, which may
suit your requirements.
It is written in Python, so it should run fine on on the Mac as long as you
have the Xcode tools installed, which gives you access to the Python
interpreter.
The app is called Imcom and the official website was
http://imcom.floobin.cx/ which no longer appears to exist.
I have put the source archive up on http://www.bur.st/~mjs/imcom-1.34.tar.gz
if you want to download it.
The client itself works much like an IRC client if you had ever used one
previously.
/add [EMAIL PROTECTED] shortname
/msg shortname this is my message
if you use /help it gives you a list of actions you can use.

Yeah, I assumed as much where Psi was concerned. Mainly what I was
wondering is if there are any psi alternatives on the mac. Even ones
that run in the text console would work.
