Take it slow. When you come across something that you are interested
in, explore the menu bar, then the window, next navigate around
without pressing anything like return or VO spacebar. After you get
comfortable with the page you are on change the view and do the same
thing until you have a understanding of what is going on. This will
give you a pretty good image of a screen. This should also help you
not to rename your applications. Try ALT Shift C, H and K. Also try VO
D and Shift VO D as well. Pay attention to what you are hearing in
comparison to the keystroke you are pressing.

alias or XXX alias
i.e part of the original name then alias.
is there any way to just return them to how they were?
tell ya what after sorting this I am giving it a break for the
night. although it's probably more like an hour.
still having problems with that download issue but will give it
another go after sorting applications.
