Thanks. This is a pretty acceptable solution to the problem,
particularly if you change the Control-F4 to something more
comfortable. I'll play with this.

When you set spaces up, you may designate where apps go. Anyway,
when you are in a space, instead of using cmd tab, use ctrl f4 to
move around. That just moves you through the presently opened
windows in the desktop. The command does not distinguish between
apps and windows like cmd tab and cmd ` do.
