The problem with an external drive is that it doesn't easily show up
in an Open dialog box or in the finder-like window you get when you
change the directory under iTunes preferences under Tiger.

I don't have problems with selecting a folder that is on my hard disk
or in my account. The problem is selecting an external hard drive
under Tiger. I bet this works in Leopard. It already works in
Automator dialogs under Tiger, but I don't know how to use Automator
to send the new preferences to iTunes. I bet I could use a command-line
argument in terminal to set the preference, but I don't know enough
about the preference syntax to do this for iTunes.

This is probably a non-issue for Leopard.

Cheers,

Esther
