Hi all, and sorry for my english.

My name is Edu Camargo (Eh-doo-cah-margu) and finding this list to me was a
great gift. It's wonderful to see lots of people in my condition starting their
new lives on a new system. I'm a musician, basically a singer, songwriter and
keyboardist.
For years I've been always wondering why Apple's assistive technology was not
so strong, regardless the years they have on development ahead Microsoft
Systems. I've been googling "Screenreaders for mac" for many times and always
found people misleading Apple's support on such case or something like that.
Then I found a solution that, at that moment, didn't thought it could get so
far. Consequently, I got very interested on VoiceOver and the things it could
be, in comparison with a third party Windows screen reader. I've downloaded the
manual in mp3 format and keep it on my music library so I could imagine how
things would be working in a new system.
Yet I didn't found a tiger or leopard to play around but I think that things
are really easy, as it was for me when I took the time to check iTunes. I've
worked with some cheesy things on Jaws and suddenly I started using iTunes
without frustration, although I still can't use the store. But I don't have
reason to care about it now since we don't have iTunes store here to buy
256kbps AAC music. So, I stick with my 320kbps MP3 files I generate myself and
I'm loving it, specially because iTunes 7 now supports gappless playback for
playing live albums or similar things. Yeah the digital music has gained
maturity so drastically!
Wel, the thing is: I'm planning to invest my money on a Mac computer with
leopard so, instead of buying a new PC desktop system I'll wait for the time
when I'll be able to import one mac computer. But I need some tips about what
is the best option regarding cost/benefit. I've always heard about different
Mac computers, such as iMac, MacPro and etc. What are the differences among
them?
Also, regarding the VoiceOver, is there any possibility of using VoiceOver with
foreign language synths? Of course, I don't need the VoiceOver menus in
portuguese or things like that, but a synthesizer in portuguese to read content
on that language when I need it.

Sorry guys for the large e-mail. And thanks in advance for the advices.

I'll keep in touch.

Thanks in advance and God bless you.

Regards,

Edu Camargo (or simply "Du").
