fire is not accessible in leopard. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Scott Chesworth" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, November 25, 2007 7:32 PM Subject: Questions about IM, the dock, the quicklook panel, and VO itself
Hey all, Its good to be back on mac! Had my old g4 power book stolen awhile ago so I dropped off the face of the earth, but as of a few days ago I'm rockin the macbook pro and lovin it. Trouble is, in that time off, I've completely lost the knack for voiceover and sunk back into my old evil windows mind-set ways, so I hope you don't mind me throwing a few questions out. 1. for IM, particularly msn i guess, i used to use fire. Downloaded version 1.5.6 just now, and either i'm losing my marbles or this thing just isn't as accessible as it once was? I can see the menues fine, but the preferences seem really tempramental and all i get in the accounts window is a table which appears to be blank. Anybody else seen this and have a solution? and, has anyone had any luck with Adium from www.adiumx.com? 2. This one is easier i hope. how do i add an app to the dock? its been driving me crazy. 3. The quicklook panel in leopard is neat... really handy! When you activate it for audio files it previews them as well i was pleased to discover, and apparently for the sighted user there's a way of skipping through the audio. I can find a pause button, and a display for ID tags and stuff like that, but no joy with the ability to see any sort of slider or scroll thingy with VO. Anybody else had more luck? 4. Loads of new VO options in Leopard... very cool to see. Maybe I missed it, but I didn't see a way to stop it announcing row numbers as you move through tables or list view though. If it exists, could someone nudge me toward it? Would speed things up a lot for me in some situations. I'm totally out of touch with the list and current topics, so if any of this has been thrashed to death already please accept my apologies, and feel free to contact me off list in that case if you've got a spare few secs to help out. Cheers... Scott
