downloading pdfs

I am try8ing to download files from UrLS that I took from an email ad  
put in TextEdit.  Whenever I do this, I get a blank area, I mean I  
don't see anything except a scroll area, but there's nothign in it,  
and there are two radio buttons rthat aren't labeled.  I can't even  
seem to save the file as I ought to be able to do.

Thoughts?
These are e-books from Steve Jackson's site E-23.  He sells a lot of  
his stuff as pdfs for reasonable prices.
