Hi john,
JM: I don't know about that. I got a new MacBook and it is F12.

TK: The MacBooks purchased in the last couple of months, both black and white, come with the function key layout I mention below. Depending on how you have the "Use F1, F2 etc buttons" pressed in your Keyboard system Preference will determine whether f12 works as up volume or Dashboard. That is, f12 on my MacBook is volume up, fn-f12 is Dashboard just like f4 when the button is selected in system Preferences.
JM:
Also, it appears that on the new Macbooks, you don't have to press FN along
with the VO keys anymore.

TK: That depends on how you have that function key item set in the Keyboard System Preferences.

JM: However, I have a question now. When I press

VO and M twice, I get into the Bluetooth menu instead of the Status
menu. Is there a way around this?

TK: The Bluetooth menu is just one of the menu-items within the Status menu and happens to be first in line. Use your left and right arrows to access Airport Status, volume, Battery and such within the Status menus.

Hi Josh and Tim,

On my Macbook pro, it is actually still f12 that opens up the
dashboard. One can change this in system preferences.

By the way, have either of you experience of world radio widget? I've
just downloaded it but I don't seem to able to use it with VO. Maybe
I'm just too green for it at the moment.

With best

JD: The Dashboard is where your widgets are stored. Pressing F12,
which activates the Dashboard, brings up your widgets.

TK: On the new MacBooks, f4 is used to bring up the Dashboard
instead of f12. This is probably true on the aluminum keyboards for
the iMac as well.
