problem with audio on a macbook

happy new years to all of you, I have a problem, my macbook wont let me here 
the audio with out headphones in, yet when i plug in headphones, it works just 
fine, I've tryed pressing fn+f5 repedly, and i still dont here any audio, 
however with the headphones i can adjust the volume and suh, turn it up, etc, 
and for some reason it just started with in the last hour or to. Please let me 
know of your ideas.
