I think a lot of your confusion is that there is no C drive etc. I find most get confused with this entire concept. Once you find the drive you wish to explore, you stop interacting with the sidebar and find where it says either icon view, list view table, or file browser. This will depend upon whether or not your in the icon view, list view, or column view. I don't know if you have tried, but Apple mail offers a built-in RSS reader. I haven't tried it, but from what I have done, it seemed quite accessible and easy to use.
