I don't know about that. What I remember is that when I plugged a I Pod in that wasn't set up on the machine I was using it said that it would erase all data on the unit and authorize it on the new computer. I will attempt to use it and see if I can add songs to it.

It should not do that, unless they changed stuff in newer models. I had a gen 4 ipod that I used between rwo macs for a long time. Unless you are using an Ipod already formated for windows and you are going to try to use it on a Mac.

Doesn't the songs on the I Pod get erased when it is plugged into a new I Tunes application?

I would still use Itunes, just make sure that the playlists are not automaticly synced and you should be fine. A tip that helps me with my ipod is to number all thed playlists, for example I have a smart playlist that has all of my current podcasts named 0 and music playlist numbered so that when I click the center buttion twice I get my podcast as my first playlist and for me two clicks from the click wheen is my favorets playlist

Listers if I want to put songs on a I Pod that belongs to someone else, but preserve the songs already stored on their I Pod. What Mac application do I use?
