With regard to getting VoiceOver to read character by chacter, interact with the line in question. To do this, press Vo keys, shift, and down arrow. Pressing Vo keys, shift, and right arrow, (forward and left arrow backward), each letter will be read by VoiceOver individually. If you want to know the phonetic sound, i.e. Charlie, Tango, etc., press Vo keys plus C, and the character or letter will be announced phonetically. To stop interaction, press Vo keys plus shift plus up arrow. HTH. Richie Gardenhire, Anchorage, Alaska.

Hi.

How do you back out of directory levels on the mac? It seems that going to the sidebar, interacting with it to find the next item you want, stop interacting with that, and so on seems quite innificient. Maybe I just don't have the hang of this mac yet but some things seem so much simpler in windows.

For instance, I'm not even sure how to get voiceover to spell a word or read character by character.

A lot of the times on the mac, I just feel like I'm lost. Perhaps some one on one training is the best way for me to get some basic concepts on the mac. I've never really been good at reading a manual and learning in that way. I'm more hands on wit this kind of thing.

Maybe I'm not being patient enough with myself because that's been known to happen on occation.

Anyway, thanks for any help and allowing me to vent a little if you want to call it that. lol.

Scott
