Heh, I'm just reading up on cubase 4, and I came across this little
nugget in the promotional material.
"Workflow
Cubase 4 was developed specifically to enable efficient, ergonomic
handling that
is easily personalized to satisfy your requirements. Keyboard
shortcuts are available for nearly all functions in Cubase 4. You can
assign these key commands freely and export the entire set if you
wish to use your personalized key commands on other systems.
Preprogrammed key configurations are available if you are adopting
Cubase now but have experience with another program to ensure a
painless changeover. If you wish to jump quickly to specific
locations within arrangement, you can place
markers at any position. The Workspace function lets you create
different window layouts that are accessible via key commands."
That makes it seem as if with a little time and some sighted
assistance, you could design your own keybord access to the functions
you use. So for example,
I'm getting an edirol m-16DX with this mac book. That is 8 pares of
stereo chanels or 16 tracks. So I could set up a key stroke to open
up an 8 track project where-in each track uses a pare of stereo
tracks from my mixer. Then I could get one of my jam-mates, all of
whom are sited, to do any editting that wants doing until the
interface becomes more accessible.
Does that sound right?
Best,
Erik
