Hi
So why not use the first shut down option in the apple menu, you know
- the one that says shut down ellipsis opposed to the next option
below.
When it offers to shut down use the up arrow key and it will give the
clicking sound until it has finished it's shut down.
Save you worrying and it's kind of like a visit to the hypnotherapist
so get someone to snap their fingers to get you back again if you drop
off.
Cheers

Hey all. Sometimes when I try to shut down my Macbook, it doesn't
shut
down. I know this, because when I try to boot it up, I don't even
hear
the startup sound. I have to hold the power button down for ten
seconds or more. Then I let up, and it comes on just fine. Also, I am
looking for a way to defrag the Mac's hard drive if necessary. Can
someone please tell me if there is an accessible and free app that
will allow me to do this? Thanks so much.
